The 2021 Raventos i Blanc di Nit Rosé is a pale pink, dry, and medium-acidity cava wine from Spain with a variety of tasting notes, including:
Raventos Sparkling Cava:
Nose: Anjou pear, toasted hazelnut, light citrus, red flowers, white fruit, and a touch of cassis
Palate: Granny Smith apple, white peach, freshly baked bread, cocoa butter, strawberry, white cherry, minerality, and citrus
Finish: Bright, fresh, and with fine bubbles
Texture: Smooth, voluminous, and fruity
Overall: A firm, focused sparkler with a pleasingly crisp, lightly chalky texture
La Val Albarino:
Bodegas La Val was established in 1985 and was one of the first wineries in Rias Baixas. In an effort to maintain quality control and a consistent style, La Val only uses its own estate grown grapes rather than buying them from local growers. They own 150 acres of Albariño most of which are located in the Condado do Tea sub-region. Jose Maria Ureta is the current winemaker and he is extremely well respected in the D.O. and considered to be one of the young up-and-comers. Albariño grapes are very high in acidity so La Val allows their new wines to rest a bit longer in tank and at the winery so that the wines’ acidities have softened before release.
Patricia Green Pinot Noir:
Brilliant red. Spice-tinged raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by cola, floral and smoky mineral notes. Sweet and focused on the palate, offering energetic red berry flavors and suggestions of rose pastille and blood orange that build with air. Vibrant and precise in style, delivering solid finishing cut, interwoven tannins and impressive, spicy persistence.
