Welcome back to the Hosting HAUS! Today, I’m sharing one of my absolute go-to recipes: a chicken marinade that never fails to impress. We all know chicken can sometimes be a little, well, bland. But not this one! Whenever I serve this chicken, everyone wants to know the secret, and it’s simpler than you’d think: a little bit of mustard magic.
Let’s dive into Ali’s Perfect Chicken Marinade. It’s easy, it’s flexible, and it’s going to turn your chicken into the star of the show.
The Secret Mustard Marinade Method
Start with your choice of chicken—thighs or breasts, whichever you prefer. I usually work with about two pounds of chicken for this marinade.
In a bowl, drizzle the chicken with a bit of avocado oil—just enough to lightly coat it. Then add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a sprinkle of paprika. Here’s the beauty of this recipe: you measure with your heart. It’s all about a nice even ratio, so if you like more garlic, go for it!
Now for the star ingredient: mustard. Whether you choose Dijon, stone-ground, or even a whole-grain mustard, it’s going to give your chicken an amazing depth of flavor. Just add a good squeeze or two—enough to coat all the chicken nicely.
Massage everything together so the chicken is well coated, then let it marinate for at least 30 minutes. If you have the time, overnight is even better.
When you’re ready to cook, fire up the grill. Grilling is my favorite way to cook this chicken because it adds that perfect smoky char and keeps everything juicy and delicious.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken thighs or breasts
- Avocado oil (to coat)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Garlic powder, to taste
- Paprika, to taste
- Mustard (Dijon or stone-ground), about 2-3 tablespoons or to your liking
Directions:
- Place the chicken in a bowl and drizzle with avocado oil.
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, then add the mustard and mix until evenly coated.
- Let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best results).
- Grill the chicken over medium-high heat until fully cooked and juices run clear.
And there you have it—juicy, flavorful chicken every single time. Enjoy!
